Footwear factory workers strike for second day

KAMPONG CHHNANG (The Cambodia Herald) – Thousands of workers went on strike at the Taiwanese-owned Can Sport Shoes factory on Wednesday for second day in a row to demand better working conditions.

The factory which is located along National Road Five, in the village of Chamkar Svay in the Sethey commune of the Samaky Meanchey district manufactures sport shoes.

A representative for the workers said the workers are demanding the reinstatement of Sean Sokleap, and 12 other list of demands.

Kampong Chhnang’s Labor Department chief, Pov Sitha, said Tuesday that authorities have found solutions for the employees already and only two demands haven’t been resolved.
