LONDON (AFP)- Usain Bolt became the first man since American Carl Lewis in 1988 to retain the 100m title at the Olympics.
The Jamaican crossed the line first in a new Olympic record of 9.63 seconds.
He was followed by compatriot Yohan Blake (9.75s) and American Justin Gaitlin (9.79s), both posting personal bests.
