KAMPOT (Cambodia Herald) – A 25-year-old name-card maker in Toek Chu district says he's taken a photograph of what he and others believe is the spirit of his fiance's house.
Keo Vichet said he took the photo with his phone while he was resting in a hammock outside the house of his future sister in law Sim Srey Touch in Tropang Thom village.
Sim Srey Touch, 30, said her future brother in law ran inside the house to show the rest of the family who were watching television when the incident occurred last week.
After viewing the photo of a long-haired girl in a white robe holding the hammock in her left hand, she said the family could not sleep for a night.
When they went for a purification ceremony with lustral water, she said the temple layman told them not to be afraid as the girl was the sprit of the house who protected them.
Tropang Thom commune chief Yav Soeun and police station chief Mao Chan both dismissed the photo as a hoax.
But Keo Vichet insisted it was genuine. Speaking to Cambodia Express News (CEN), an affiliate of The Cambodia Herald, he said he was testing the camera on the phone which was new but that the flash did not work. He said he became frightened when he later saw the photo with the girl.
