PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Convicted Russian pedophile Alexander Trofimov will be deported on Thursday, a senior police officer said.
Kirt Chantharith, spokesman for the General Commissariat of National Police, told The Cambodia Herald Monday that police were waiting for an air ticket for the former convict.
"No authorities from the Russian government have come to get him so we're deporting him," the spokesman said.
"If there's an extradition order, we will hand him over to the Russian government," he said, adding that Trofimov was now with immigration police.
The Russian property developer, who is said to have invested $300 million in Cambodia, was arrested at a house in Kandal province on June 4 after receiving a royal pardon last year.
Trofimov was arrested in 2007 facing 17 complaints of sexually abusing minors, the youngest just six years old. He was found guilty and sentenced to 17 years, reduced on appeal to eight years.
