PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Ty Tum, also known as Nen Tum, has transformed his career from being a stage performer to a rap singer.

Born in Vihear Loung village in Tbong Khmom district, Kampong Cham province, he is the first and only son among four children.

His mother, Touch Mach, also performs on stage and he started his career when he was eight.

Nen Tum became recognized for his other talents when he began singing with rap singer Pu Klieng.

"People who work in theatre are always tired because we can perform only at night and have to wear a lot of make-up," he said. "We travel far and work hard but we earn little. Yet we feel passion about performing on stage when we're dressed in our costumes."

Nen Tum now works for the New Song production house and stars in videos with Pu Klieng. "Apart from that, I work at night as a DJ at Hip Hop and Klap YaHandz club and I'm also involved in social work," he said.
