PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - The Supreme National Economic Council headquarters has become the site of Cambodia's first artificial grass football field installed by Vietnam's Lucky Star Football Club.

Located on Norodom Boulevard opposite the Ministry of Interior, the installation will be finished on Thursday and coincides with an expansion of the council's headquarters.

"The number of artificial grass field installations is surpassing natural grass fields in Vietnam at the moment, Lucky Star chairman Truong Van Bao told The Cambodia Herald.

"I expect the sector will soar in Cambodia in the near future," said Bao, who came to Phnom Penh last week to oversee the installation. "The business can return capital to investors in about a year and the life of artificial grass is more than 10 years".

Lucky Star is the exclusive Vietnamese distributor for CCGrass, a Chinese company which is licensed by FIFA.

Founded in 2006, it is now the leading artificial turf installation company in Vietnam with hundreds of projects for football fields, gardens and golf courses.

Bao says the company, based in Ho Chi Minh City, plans to open branches in Cambodia and Laos this year.
