PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Prime Minister Hun Sen and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will inaugurate the final border marker between the two countries on June 24, Senior Minister Va Kimhong said.
He said the inauguration ceremony for marker 314 between Kampot and Kien Giang provinces would be followed by a conference in the Vietnamese town of Ha Tien.
The erection of all 375 border markers along the 1,270-kilometer border between the two countries is scheduled to be completed in late 2012. The process was started in 2006 under an agreement reached in 2005.
While opposition parties claim the border markers represent a loss of Cambodian territory, Va Kimhong has previously said that the two countries have both ceded land to each other.
